Lyrics above the staff
I need to write some lyrics overhead the staff, not underneath as regularly MSc does.
If there is not a way to do this, I think it would be useful to add for future versions.
Thanks

You can control the default location of lyrics via Style->Edit Text Style. Just adjust the Y setting to control the location of lyrics not yet entered. For lyrics already entered, select a word, right click, select->all similar elements, right ctrl-drag.

Nothing happen when I try to do that. MuseScore 1.0 Win XP, I want to write lyrics above the staff. Modifications of Y does not change the default location of Lyrics.

Hmm, looks like you're right. Text styles work for most elements, but they don't appear to be honored for lyrics. I think I had noticed that but forgotten. I now remember how I actually got the position of ,yrics to chsnge: I altered the value in style / edit general style / page / lyrics upper margin. A value around -7 should do the trick. I tried this and it does work, at least in 1.1. And it has the advantage of affecting lyrics already entered, too.
For 2.0, text style handling will be much improved. It's one of the things I'm loking forward to most in that release.

This should be submitted as a bug report. Thanks.

Maybe there could be a 'Flip Direction' function - lyrics would either go above, or below the note.
Hi there - I discovered a workaround for now. You can type the lyrics below the staff but then manually edit their placement by clicking them once and dragging them, like you can for most elements. It's a roundabout method but gets the job done.
