Deleting measures

(Please see attachment pg 10)I've always been told you can delete measures on MS. I CAN delete what's been entered in them, but NOT the actual measures. How to get rid of measures you don't want/need? Also, not just at the end of score, but within scores here and there? I tried Selecting, then Ctr+C, D, and X, none worked
