getting the program to allow me to scroll down the page
There is no scroll bar for me to read down the page.

Mouse wheel (or equivalent touch gesture - two finger swipe etc), page up/down, or simply drag the page. Or display the Navigator (from View menu) and use that. But the mouse wheel is the easiest.
