Hearing notes before I place them
A long time ago I came in contact with another music program on a Mac that had this behavior, but I haven't seen this option since, in any software.
Is there a way to hear the notes before I place them when I'm in input mode?
I don't sight-read, and yet I'd really like to compose music, and placing the notes and then erasing them and placing them again is really slow and annoying. If the notes sounded as the mouse traveled up and down the staff, I would be able to know the note was right before placing it.
Any ideas how this could be done?
Thx in advance,
Jmz

If you use the computer keyboard for input, using the arrow keys will sound teh note as you move it up and down.

I was using this privilege of resounding the notes via arrow keys sideways or semitone pitches up and down. Then I no longer can do that,; clicking the note head no longer gives a sound, nor the arrow keys selecting note heads deliver a sound either. Where did it go wrong?

Does playback work at all? i can only guess the usual things - your speakers are muted, or the volume turned down too low. Or maybe you've uninstalled the soundfont you were using. This wold affect all plauback, not just note clicking.

My guess here is that you've hit the "Enable sound while editing" button by accident, and consequently turned it off.
It should be blue as in the screenshot (arrow pointing to it)
