Changing Naming of Staves
I entered a new treble tune using the default instrument, which is "Piano". When I played it back I realized a flute was much more appropriate so I went to change the instrument associated with that staff. I can't seem to do it. I can go into the mixer and change the "Piano" staff to playback with a flute. but it won't allow me to change the stave instrument to "Flute". It's perfectly happy to let me create a new "Flute" stave, copy all the measures to that stave and delete the "Piano" stave but that seems awkward. I suppose I could dump it out as xml, edit the source, and import it, but I've seen xml files get very squirrely when tweaked like that. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Did you try right click->staff properties->change instrument?

I did, but I didn't do it in the right place so the staff properties part of the window didn't show up. You have to be over the staff but not near a note to get it to show. Once I found it, worked like a champ. I also didn't find it in the handbook because I didn't recognize that "Change instruments mid-staff" meant you could change them at the start also. Guess I'm too much of a low level programmer and assume that anything not explicitly stated is not allowed.
Thanks for solving it.

Actually,. FWIW, you *can* right click directly on a note and get the menu with Staff Properties. At least you can with the current version (2.0.3); might not have not in some older versions.

You're right: change mid-staff is really something else. What you were looking for is described in the handbook under "Staff properties".
