Tool bar very little
Reinstalled from apt-get install musescore and downloaded the app image and get the same problem. The score es readable if resized to 400%.

See #106241: Monitor resolution detected incorrectly, making sizes wrong and join the discussion there - let us know what OS and whatever information you can provide about your monitor configuration. Meanwhile, you can use the "-X" command-line option to specify a scaling factor that will help (eg, "-X 4" to make things four times bigger).

I'm running Linux Mint 18. The problem is with LED TV I'm use as monitor, not sure the width but is a large one.
Yes, it is known that some (most? all?) TV sets will have this issue, since apparently they do not communicate their true size/resolution well. The workaround should do the job for now.
