New instrument - Zither – different parameters in two staves
Hello,
I've tried to add an instrument (Zither) by editing instruments.xml according to this manual: https://musescore.org/node/15803
Zither has two staves:
- first with G clef for melody strings
- second with F clef for accompaniment strings
The melody strings are usually steel and accompaniment strings are mostly nylon. I would like to set these different parameters for both staves. E.g. channel 25 (steel guitar) for the first staff and channel 24 (nylon guitar) for the second staff. I've tried to do it by adding staff="2" like it was done for the G and F clef (see below), however all the parameters (channel, string data, pitch range) were identical as in the first as in the second staff.
Does Musescore support different channels, pitch range and string data in two staves for one instrument? I know I can do it by adding two staves of two different instruments but I would prefer the first way. Thank you for help!

Instead of Channel staff="2" use Channel name="nylon", then of the bottom staff add a staff text (text doesn't matter and you can even make it invisible) and use staff text properties to switch to that nylon Sound.
I don't see such a workaround for pitch and sting data, but this (the additions of 'staff="n"' to channel, pitch and string data) seems to be a valid feature request.

Thank you for that idea. It wouldn't solve the string data and pitch range. I see that staff parameter isn't allowed for string data and pitch range. I've solved it by creating two instruments, first for melody strings and second for accompaniment strings and I have to add both staves separately to the score. Never mind.
