As mentioned in that thread I am first going to try a recompile of SFtools.
I have just updated my Linux installation to Ubuntu Studio 16.04 - can anyone let me know what libraries etc I will need to make available to run the compile.
I have done a new compile of the SF3, which has fixed the distortion problems I was having in the trumpet, but not the issues in the harmonica, although the distortion present is greatly reduced.
This means that the code for sfconvert needs looking at again, and I will be opening a separate issue for this.
The updated SF3 will be uploaded to Google Drive some time today.
Comments
I have hit an issue.
Every time I compress the SF2 with Werner's SFtools, I get artifacts in the trumpet preset.
There is also an artifact issue in the harmonica - see #151781: Artifacts present in the harmonica preset of the SF3 version of the default soundfont.

Tomorrow I shall be attempting a fresh compile of the SF3 file from the latest SF2 version.
