String editing algorithm is incorrect
Have just hit on a problem with the string editing dialogue for Banjo
The standard 5 string banjo is tuned 1st string D4 2nd: B3 3rd: G3 4th: D3 5th: G5
Currently the string editing dialogue assumes that the lowest pitched string will be the highest string number, and the highest pitched string will be the lowest string number.
This is fine for guitars, lutes etc, but fails for the 5 string banjo.
Is this known or should I open an issue?

I have some problem in understading your "highest" and "lowest", but I can confirm that the string tuning editor keeps string data sorted by pitch, so 'non-sequential' tuning like the one you describe is not possible at the moment, as well as theorbo or lirone (English?) tunings (I don't think they ever used tabulatures, though).
I'll fix this ASAP.
Non-sequential tunings will adversely affect the current default 'fretting' algorithm (assigning frets to notes), so some inconsistency has to be expect in it, at least initially.
Thanks,
M.
Fixed in rev. 5392. Now it is possible to enter string tuning in non-sequential order.
I still have to check what happens to fretting (converting pitched staves to tabulature staves and/or increasing/decreasing fret numbers across 'jumping' strings), though. If anybody want to experiment is welcome!
Thanks,
M.
