Corrupted File - Time Signature Problems

• Jan 6, 2017 - 04:52

Hello there,

I have a completed work which I went back to export and print, only to discover it was corrupted suddenly. I referenced the Musescore page on what to do with a corrupted file (https://musescore.org/en/node/54721) , but this one is so badly messed up I don't know where to start. It seems like there was a problem when I tried to add a pickup measure by changing the individual time signature of the first measure from 6/8 to 1/8. I may have done something wrong there.

Anyways, I'm going to attempt to attach the file and hopefully someone can help me solve the problem. Somehow the song now plays from around 6 places at once - maybe try playing it once just to see what I mean. :P

Thanks.

Excellent work! The version you gave is exactly how I had it before saving and exiting - I know this because I had exported a PDF version of it when I finished making it. When I go back to that PDF version, I realize now that it says 1/8 time. I need to be more careful about changing measure properties. I guess when I finished I was rushed and did not notice that changing that first measure changed the whole piece to 1/8 time.

Anyways, using the version you gave, I removed the first measure (the pickup measure which is supposed to technically be in 1/8 time) and then changed the song back to 6/8 time. Voila! It's back to it's original state as I remember it.

I can't thank you enough for relieving me of this stress.

Technically, a pickup measure is still in the 6/8 time, but the actual duration of the measure is 1/8.

If you need to do this again in the future: Either enter the pickup measure when creating the score with the New Score Wizard or:
Leave the time signature at 6/8, right-click the first measure, open up the measure properties and change the actual duration to 1/8.
