It sounds like you are perhaps creating a score for unaccompanied solo violin - so your score contains multiple systems of only a single staff each. Eg, measure 1-8 are one one system, 9-14 on the next or whatever, and each system has only the violin staff, no other staves (no piano accompaniment, for example), And now you want to increase the distance from one system to the next. If so, go to Style / General / Page and play with the min & max system distance. Mostly, the max.
That will change the distance for *all* systems. If there is just a single pair of system s that need more space, see the Breaks & Spacers palette.
