The first homegrown soundfont
Ok I've spent the last few days getting used to the Viena interface, and proudly present you with.......
The first MuseScore soundfont.
The zip file contains a 4 MB soundfont containing a Grand Piano made from samples found here:
http://www.freesound.org/people/neatonk/packs/9133/
and compressed with SfArk
It's a bit rough and ready at the moment but doesn't sound too bad
I've put a CC BY SA licence on it, which is presumably how we are going to proceed. Copyright is owned by the MuseScore Soundfont Group.
Windows MAc and Linux versions of the SfArk software can be found here:

Feel free to tweak :)

Great ! The same source (University of Iowa) has more samples, recorded in the same anechoic room.
See http://theremin.music.uiowa.edu/ hover on Musical Instrument Samples

There are a large number of samples here that are definitely worth investigating.
I am very tied up with work just at the moment, and won't have time to do much before the weekend.
Is anyone else able to download these and audition them, then report back here?
