how to have violins section
I am using MS 2.0.3. I would like to have a violins section but I notice
under Instruments\Strings it only lists Violin, Viola, Violoncello,
Contrabass and Double Bass, all singular.
If I want my violins section to have 8 violins does that mean I have
to have 8 staffs, 1 for each instrument?

Multiple parts playing in unison will do nothing to the playback sound in MuseScore, it will only produce the sound once, not 8 times. If you need to write divisi you can use any of the features you normally see on a score or a violin part including separate staves if necessary, chords marked divisi and independent parts on the same staff using voices. There are several sound fonts out there and others will be more than happy to insert their opinions on which ones give the best section sound and solo sound.

One more thing. If, while selecting instruments, you look under all instruments you will have the choice of violin and violins, viola and violas... They default to different sounds.
Only the singular instruments are shown under "Common instruments," but if you change the dropdown above to "Orchestral instruments" (or if you're feeling bold, "All instruments"), you'll see the plural versions listed. You can also find them by typing them into the search box below.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I totally missed there was a dropdown box there.
