Order of key signatures
Should the order of key signatures in the palette and Master Palette be changed?
I'm referring to quantity - sharps are displayed 1-7, whereas flats are displayed 7-1. I think flats should be 1-7 for balance.
Using MuseScore 2.0 Nightly Build (0988848) - Mac 10.7.4.

IMHO that would destroy the balance. It would be taking a see-saw and putting the seats all to the left and the squeaky bits to the right.
See here for illustration.

While there indeed a certain logic to the current arrangement, it isn't the only possible one that makes sense. The current grip arrangements does seem to suggest they should just go around the circle. But I could also see two rows, one for sharps and one for flats, each going 1-7. Obviously, that wouldn't work so well in a vertical palette, though.
Also, minor peeve, but it has always bugged a little to find C at the *end* rather than *beginning* of the list.

The current 'balance' is rather debatable:
From G to C# it goes up by fifths (6 steps)
Then it jumps 'down' 14 fifths from C# to Cb and
From Cb to C it goes up by fifths again (7 steps)
IMHO, if going by fifths, the most 'balanced' arrangement should be to go all the way either 'up' from Cb to C# or 'down' from C# to Cb (in both case, with C in the middle!).
Of course, palettes can be re-arranged, but the new score wizard cannot and, even for palettes, it would be convenient to have them in a 'logical' order by default, if there is one.
Thanks,
M.

There is balance. It's just that they overlap:
G
D
A
E
B.....Cb
F#...Gb
C#...Db
........Ab
........Eb
........Bb
........F
Musically there is a need for F# and Gb and (to a lesser extent) Cb and C#.
Okay.
You can , of course, always create a Custom Palette if you want your key signatures to appear in a different order. I see no need to change the default in that case.
