eigth note tremolo

I want to create the shorthand notation for eight notes oscillation between two diffferent notes for two beats. Say a "G" and a 'D". This can be shown as two have notes (one "G' and one "D" in my example) with stems connected by a single bar. I tried using the tremolo notation but it does not connect the stem tops, but hovers in between. Also when I copy a 4/4 bar with 4 half note tremolos indications in it, it comes out as 3 half notes and one quarter note.

If you have only one staff you could use 4 eights notes and beam them accordingly. Then right click a notehead -> note properties -> notehead type -> half. Change the duration of the measure with right click on the measure -> Measure properties -> Actual duration
