Many articulations are currently not implemented in playback.
Actually, staccato *is* implemted for playback, at least in the released version. But it might be temporarily disabled for whatever reason in any given experimental nightly build.
Anyhow, to answer the question posed: yes, of course people know that playback isn't perfect, and there are plenty of existing discussions on how it could perhaps be improved. But it is also important to realize that Musescore is not primarily a playback program - it is for creating printed motation. Any playback features it has are secondary.

I agree with your statement but... if they dont have play back how will they no if a part fits or sounds right espicailly for pieces by ear. Playback is actually fairly important to me. 2ndary or not after using it for awhile to people it will feel "needed". I just asked because at one time i looked on the comparison of musescore to fianle and saw only "Tenuto and Staccoto" where as when i using the Sibelius free trial and was amazed by its playback features. But i hate sibelius.

MuseScore *does* have playback of all notes and an ever-growing number of markings. So you can hear your composition played back by computer to an extent that was not possible or even dreamed of ever before in the history of humantiy until just a few yeas ago. That's a truly amazing thing, and something we should not lose sight of. It's just that not every possible marking has the playback effect it should - yet. And that's just a matter of priorities. As a notation program. It is far more important to be able to notate something at all than to hear it's playback effect. While there are still a handful of markings that do not playback, thee are still plenty of things that cannot be notated at all, or only with great difficulty, so addressing that has to come first.
So sure, *evenually*, it will be nice to see evem more marking suppored for playback than already are (and the list for 2.0 is definitely bigger than 1.x), but let's keep things in perspective. People managed to compose for centuries with no computers at all, and for decades with computers but no automated playback facilities at all. It is perfectly possible to imagine what a marking will sound like without having rhe comouter play it for you. And over time, MuseScore will certainly support more and more markings. And staccato already *is* supported, as are many of the most commonly used markings. The markings that are not supported for playback probably will be once the notation side of things is more solid.
