Two melodies on the treble clef
I remember being able to have two melodies on a single treble clef
with different notelengths.
But now I cannot remember how to to it.
For example, how do I put a halfnote at a place where a quarter rest is?

Sorry, I cannot understand the handbook pages you referenced.
I have all the voice-2 notes and text selected.
I should just be able to color those.

Select and use inspector

Open the Selection filter (use F9 to toggle it) and uncheck the voices you do not want to change, then select the entire selection and look in the inspector (F8 toggles it) and click notes. You can then click the black rectangle and change the color to anything you like. If you want the rests red also, repeat the process but select rests in the inspector.
