banjo string editting (and saving as a template)
Hi
With my folky hat on I frequently write out Irish tunes for other players (banjo, fiddle and mandolin) who don't read standard notation.
The TAB works for banjo and mandolin. BUT when I choose the banjo tab it gives me 3 different types of 4-string banjo. I can't see any difference and that doesn't really bother me. However when I have chosen one of them and decide to take the tuning to "Irish Trad." (as per violin tuning) rather than eg "Chicago" it then throws up a palette with 5 strings! So I then have to get rid of that pesky 5th string and retune all the other strings. That's really annoying. Is there someway I can save the banjo TAB (in the correct tuning ) as a template and if so, how do I go about it?
Windows 10, 3c7a69d
I'm guessing that the next version of MScore will have a mandolin instrument and that this discussion will not be required?
cheers

Just save a properly set up score in the user's template folder and pick that on next score creation, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/create-new-score#templates
Mandolin is available in 2.0.3

Hmmm, I have set up another score with banjo tab.
I've then gone to Edit > Pref> General and clicked on the "templates" folder which brought up another screen asking me to select a folder. Dead end for me as I don't have a folder with templates in. Which bit of the manual have I not understood?
Thank you for replying by the way!!

Just store you score there and restart MuseScore

Marvellous. thank you very much. I was fooled but finally worked out I needed to be in the Templates folder on my C drive and not accessing thru Musescore. Slow learner!
