If you mean one like I'm showing, the V key will turn it invisible just like it will a note or rest. If not, please make your question clearer.

Apparently a rest is meant by the OP. (It'd be "Pause" in German too BTW)

The correct picture helped a lot. Just click it and on the American keyboard press V. The shortcut is called "Toggle visibility" in English in the preferences dialog.
