Grey out none functioning access.
Over the last few days as I was finishing some charts, I tried to do set a "universal" position for voltas.
Since a volta contains text, and I have had experience before with setting style that has text, I went Style>text>volta and tried to change the position settings there.
Nothing happened, and I tried a few times.
After posting about this in the forums., I was directed to Style>general>Hairpins, volta, ottava where the changes I made had results.
It was frustrating to try and do it with no result in the text style, and it would be clearer if the inactive parts of those windows were greyed out instead of being selectable, with out result.

I'm surprised there seems to be so much confusion surrounding this. These are not nonfunctioning! They simply only affect subsequently created voltas. #180846: Existing voltas do not obey text style changes

I read many posts but not all.

Ditto :-)
To be clear: changing the text style for volta text *does* have effect, so it should not be greyed out. The effect is, all future voltas will get that style. Currently, it is the case that *existing* voltas do not automatically inherit that style. This is, as has been discussed elsewhere, kind of a bug, but it's a special case in that normally text style changes only apply to full-fledged text elements. Voltas are special in that they are not text elements themselves - they are lines that *contain* text. Probably we should go into all such lines and udpate their text as well (this also applies to other textlines like ottavas etc).

As I mention, the fact that they contain text is the reason I looked there first.

Make that "probably" a "definitely" please. ;-)
