Stacking notes to manually create a chord?
Hi, everyone,
I am attempting to type a dyad where the B is a whole note, and underneath it, a G and E are half notes. When I try to type the B as a whole note and then add the G, it turns the B into a half note and bumps it to the right in the measure as if they were being played independently. However, the B is to be played the entire measure of 4 beats, with the G and E getting two beats each during the same measure. If anyone can help with this, I really appreciate it. I am not seeing a clear way to do this by myself.
Thanks,
Karen

That was very helpful! Thank you! Now I have a follow-up: How do I manually enter two notes intended to be played together for a dyad on the bass clef? If I use "voices," the stems go in opposite directions (which worked perfectly, above) but look odd for a regular chord or dyad to be played. ?? Please advise.
Thanks,
Karen

If you don't need separate voices, just enter the chord normally into the first voice - no need to mess with voices or stem flipping. For the many ways to enter notes and chords, see the handbook under "Note input" (eg, press Shift when typing the letter name of the note you want to add, when using the keyboard method of note input).
