mscore.exe has stopped working
I've been writing a piece on here, and all of the sudden it through in a random bar with 4 and a half beats in it. I saved and closed out of it, but then when i started it back up it gave me an error that "mscore.exe has stopped working" and then the standard "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. etc." I'm using windows 7 and version 1.2. I can load the program fine, but any time I load the file, it gives me this error. I really don't want to have to restart writing the piece, though, because I'm almost done with it...

Can you attach the score ?

Nevermind, I fixed the problem. Apparently the file saved with a comma at the end.

That's the backup file created by MuseScore - if you save a score called "music.mscz", it creates a backup file called ".music.mscz,"
I have the same problem, there was a glitch in the timing in one of the bars and then the program crashed. Now every time I try to open the file, it just crashes and comes up with "musecore has stopped working". please help? :(

The file opens but it's broken around measure 23. I tried to fix it. I'm not sure about why you used triplet of dotted eight in 6/8 though.

yeah i just realized how pointless that was... , I'm still learning ahaha -_- thanks!
I am having the same problem. I can attach the file, but I would like to know how to fix the problem myself.

You may be able to open it with a Nightly build of 2.0 which seem to be more tolerant of corruptions.
You can then remove any corruption then export to MusicXML so you can load it back into 1.2 stable.
If the corruption is so severe that 2.0 will not open it then you will need to post the file so that one of the dev team can open the file and hack it directly.

I been having the same issue. I remember having issues with rests (5 beats in a 4/4 bar) before it wouldn't open on me. Here's the file, could someone lend me a hand? I'm not sure what a Nightly build of 2.0 is.

Looks like you attached the backup copy of the file - see the comma at the end? Also presumably started with a period, but maybe you (or the attachement system of the forum) removed that. Anyhow, don't be fooled by that - it probably contains old information. It opens just fine for me, though, so if too much information isn't lost, maybe just continue working from that backup copy. Otherwise, find the real version and attach that instead.
As for "nightly of 2.0" - 2.0 is the next major release of MuseScore, still under development and not due for a while now, but every night they build a version of it that people can try as is if they want to experiment with it. See the Download link in the menu at right of this page. Unfortunately, due to an issue in a recent Microsoft update, the nightlies are mostly unusable on Windows right now. At least, everything will *look* wonky. But you shouyld still be able to use it open a file, save it as MusicXML, then open that in 1.2.
