Transposing only transposes some chord names
I am using MuseScore 1.2, Rev 5470
When I transpose an entire score, in my case down a minor third, only some of the chord names are transposed. I am using the following steps:
1. Notes->Transpose
2. Transpose by Interval->Down->Minor Third. (I also found the same bug when I "Transpose by Key")
3. Transpose Key Signatures & Transpose chord names are both checked.
As an experiment, I created a two bar score with just the notes of a C scale. I assigned two chords, each of them on the first note of each bar. When I followed the above procedure, it didn't transpose the first chord, but it transposed the second one.

What was the first chord? Musescore only transpose the chordnames it can recognize. Check plugins -> chord chart for a list.
This facility does not seem to be in 1.2.
Plugins/Lead Sheet/Create Chord Chart
Thanks. Which file should I select?
same choice as for the score you write?
Waiting for the OP to state which chords didn't transpose, best to add a score that shows the problem...
It's pretty much guaranteed that it's going to turn out to be uncoregnized chords. Eg, "Cmi7" when using a chord style that expects "Cm7" or vice versa. An unfortunate state of affairs that it is so easy to create unrecognized chords, but one I hope to see addressed soon.
My suspision too and if it turns out to be this, we'd close this issue as 'by design'
I'm overwhelmed by the attention :-)
I'm not sure how to use the Plugins->Lead Sheet->Create Chord Chart. It's expecting an XML file as input, so I saved my score as an XML file. I then ran the Create Chord Chart plugin and it produced an empty score. I will attach one of my problem scores if that will help.
As you will see, I'm using chord symbols such as G7, CMaj7, C-7, F7, Bb-7. Is this wrong? They're more or less the standard for jazz scores, at least in North America.

MuseScore doesn't like the - in your chords. Drop those and transpose works. Or is that - something spechion? Is C7 and C-7 a different chord? Maybe Cdim7 resp. Co7? If so use that instead.
This style also doesn't like Maj, use ma ínstead
That plugin wants one of the chord description xml files in the template folder, the same you piched as the style for your chords (cchords_muse.xml in your example)
One trick I use to see whether MuseScore accepted the chord as a chord, is to enter them in lower case. If MuseScore recognizes them, it upshifts the 1st letter, if not it leaves them unchanged.
Another way to find that out is via right click, chord properties, Unrecongized chords are shown as C major in the dialog
C7 and C-7 are two different chords. C-7 spelled out is C minor 7th. The chord nomenclature (not sure if that's the right term but...) is from the Hal Leonard's Real Books, which are the bible around here as far as Jazz lead sheets go.
Is there documentation somewhere for what MuseScore considers acceptable chord entries?
I've attached the output of the Chord Plugin. Not at all what I entered.
When using that chord description file, this are the choices you have. There are other description files, check them out to see which fits your neds better.
Another way to see the choices you have is via the chord properties dialog
Yes - see Chord name in the Handbook. As you'll see, the ,istof acceptable chords depends on which chird name style you are currently using.
BTW, Majj and - aren't really any kind of standard, in North America or anywhere else. Each publisher has their own conventions, with the only thing really approaching a standard being ma and mi in the world of jazz big band charts (fakebooks continue to beall over the map). I actually don't know anypublishers that use Maj and -, although the Real Book series uses maj (lower case) and -. I'm sure someone out here uses Maj and -, though, and if you are mostly familiar with that publisher, it could start to look like a standard.
Seems cchords_rb.xml comes closest to what you want. But all this now clearly is a support question and as such for the forum, not the issue tracker...
Thanks for all of the attention folks. I've now seen the error of my ways! One last question Jojo--I'm tyring to figure out what I change to use the cchords_rb.xml file, i.e. is this a style? The process I've been using so far is to create a new score using the Jazz Lead Sheet template.
Check the handbook page Marc mentioned above

Awesome! That worked perfectly. I wish the support for some of the very expensive paid software I use was this good!
