custom key signature
Hi,
I am creating a custom key signature thru the tools provided. However after creating and adding to the table, I can insert created signature to the score however it is not functioning correctly ( example : Bb and F# together, or Bb and C# together). I may be missing something.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Regards,
Omer Remzi SARI

Custom key sigs don't play back correctly, this is know and documented limitation. Is that what you mean?
This is from the handbook page on key signatures "Note, however, that playback of custom key signatures is not currently supported (2.1)."
Your not missing anything, they are only for display at this time. You will need to find a way to add sharps and flats you your score, then hide them. For example, use the key of F and manually enter C#'s. Unfortunately there is no way to specify selecting only the sharps on C's so if you want them to disappear you will have to select each one individually or select sections of music where only C's have sharps then right click sharp and select->more to select multiple sharps. You will then need to delete the F key signature and do the same for B flats and enter the custom key signature.

Thanks a lot mike, very useful. Hope they will work in the future versions.

I haven't heard anything that give me confidence that anyone plans on making them work.

They already *work*; MuseScore is after all a notation program, and they do notate correctly. The question is whether they also happen to affect playback. They currently do not, but keep in mind that is always lower priority than making them *work*.

By work I mean they have a useful function. They are nothing more than a decoration in their current state.

Again, MuseScore is primarily a notation program. Printed music has a useful function; it isn't mere decoration.

If the custom key signature had any use beyond being a decoration you wouldn't have to enter a sharp or flat on each note in the custom key signature, it would adjust the pitch automatically just like with predefined key signatures.

You don't *have* to enter those sharps and flats - you can print your sheet music and human musicians will play it just fine. You would need to add the individual accidentals only if you happen to also want the computer playback to be correct. This is what I mean when I say the key signatures work in the sense that they produce perfectly valid printed sheet music; they just don't happen to also playback correctly.
The point, in the world of MuseScore - or any program that is primarily about notation - things that adversely affect how elements display and print are always considered more important than things that only affect how they sound in the computer-generated playback.

Gents,
Thank you very much indeed for all your support and shared opinions. I would like to highlight 2 points.
1. I am not using this software only for proper printing function. I would like to hear also from computer what is already recorded. For self education and/or editing.
2. Surprisingly, Gb2 key signature is working fine. I have marked up in blue at the attached screen shot. In my country (Turkey), our folk music this note Gb2 has very common use, luckily it gives me the correct sound, I do not know (or it is normally expected) why the others are not the same.
One correction: Gb2 is also failed (after re-cheked) so ignore the second paragraph please.
One addition : Grace notes added after the main is not working too.
Once more thanks again all of you gents.

please read all Gb2 (sol bb) as Bb2 (si bb) in above post. sorry.
