Can't get 1.3 to work properly - now 1.2 exhibits same problem

1.2 was working fine. I then downloaded and installed 1.3 in a separate program folder. I now find that I can only open one or other version once. If I then close Musescore I have to restart my laptop before I can open it again. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both versions so that only one at a time is installed on my laptop but it makes no difference, neither 1.2 nor 1.3 will open more than once - I have to restart my laptop if I want to open Musescore again. Factory reset makes no difference.

I have 32 bit Windows 7 on my laptop.

Any ideas as to what may be causing the problem please?
