Parts of notation copied across with lyrics and now can't delete..?
I copied and pasted this guitar tab and it took some parts of the notation along with it, how do I delete the messy notation?

Select the unwanted lyrics and delete them...
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/selection-modes
especially:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/selection-modes#all-similar-selection
OR:
Start over and copy/paste again, but this time exclude the lyrics, using the Selection Filter (F6).
See:

If for some reason selection of the lyrics is impossible, please attach your score instead of a picture.
Regards.

Your help is most appreciated, perhaps I could delete the lyrics and the notation leftovers with it, but as the picture suggests it is the notation that I want to remove, see the picture, not actual staff notation just a bunch of messy lines and leftovers outside of the staff which copied across with the lyrics.

"a bunch of messy lines and leftovers outside of the staff which copied across with the lyrics." ?
It seems you confused with the usual result of the "common" tab staff type.
Considering that this is the default tab staff, and you probably want to get something else, go to the Instruments dialog box (shorcut "I"), and modify in the right column, via the drop-down list, that staff type, by selecting "Tab.- simple" (see image below)
EDIT: If after that, you continue to see unexpected things (sort of "ledger lines", maybe a maneuver error in Advanced style properties), please share the score, not simply an image.
