Moving around score via rests using keyboard
1. Open attached score (produced in 1.3).
2. Click on rest.
3. Press Up/Down.
Result: The rest is moved.
Discussion: I think if you wish to move a rest, you should do this via 'edit mode'. In time, I think the default positioning will have improved, so the need to make manual adjustments will probably be reduced.
Instead of the rests moving, what do people think about the ability to move to different voices and staves using the keyboard when on rests? Currently, I think you need to use the mouse for this.
Using MuseScore 2.0 Nightly Build (24b9101) - Mac 10.7.5.

I agree rests shouldn't be movable out of edit mode but I would not like to move staves with when rests are selected. It's unexpected. In fact I'm not a big fan of moving staves by dragging the mouse without modifier either... since it can be done easily without noticing it.

I think he means, moving the cursor from one staff to another - not moving the staff itself. Being able to move the cursor from staff to staff via keyboard is of course a common request, one that I'd very much love to see happen. But I don't think it should be the default cursor action with a rest selected. It should be doable from a note or rest, meaning it can't be a simple cursor key action.

Any opinion on the current behavior? with a simple click and arrows, it's currently possible to move rests, articulations and lyrics up and down.

Not sure. Will take some getting used to. Right now seems a bit inconsistent in which things can be moved this way and which can't. Plain text is one of things I want to nudge most often, and that remains impossible. I suspect I'd rather have a "nudge mode" that worked for *everything*, even if it took an extra click to get there. I guess this would be a bit different from "edit mode" in that the latter means something special for text, lines, etc. Although I suppose the two modes could be the same for things like rests & articulations where edit mode already basically is just enabling nudge.

I do like the idea of rests being easily movable, but I find it's too easy to do so accidentally right now. And I still don't like the fact that items like text I wish I could move in this way, I can't.
Thinking about my comment above regarding a "nudge" mode: what about using the Enter key to enable it? It does essentially nothing most of the time now as it is. This is odd in itself. I might expect it to function like double click (as it does in many other programs) and thus to enter Edit mode. But if there were to be a nudge mode, I think Enter would be a logical way to access it. Cick or navigate to an item, press enter, then start nudging. For some items, nudging is all you do in Edit mide, so the modes are the same. For other items like slurs, Edit mode is different, and you'd continue to access it with double click.
Sorry, I couldn't properly understand your response lasconic, but yes, I was talking about the cursor (the rest that is selected, not the mouse cursor - just to clarify). I didn't know it was a common request, so my apologises for starting another topic.
With regards to notes, 'Up'/'Down' changes them, so I excluded it from the proposal, but because of the imbalance, it might not be worth the trouble?

It's mostly while in Note Entry mode that most of the people requesting a shortcut fo change staves are thinking of. See for example http://musescore.org/en/node/15604. But I'd assume the same shortcut could work either way. Definitely wouldn't make any sense for the same shortcut to do different things depending on whether the cursor is on a rest or not, though.
About the moving rests, see this: #22174: Elements vertically movable when not in edit mode

Moving rests is somehow a special case. Rests have distinct vertical positions and are moved in space units. This is frequently needed in a multi voice context.
In edit mode rests can be free moved.
