Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra SFZ will not sound when loaded into Zerberus. Musescore 2.1
I tried installing the SFZ Version of SSO in the last version of Musescore. It never worked but I thought since 2.1 came out and has better SFZ support it would work. I put the folders that contain the sound in the My Documents/Musescore 2/Soundfonts (also tried putting them in the Program Files folder of Musescore) with the SFZ Files and I still have no luck. Every other SFZ works but not Virtual Orchestra or SSO.

Does anybody have an answer for this?
What goes wrong when you try? Do you have other soundfonts loaded as well? Have you selected the appropriate sounds in the Mixer? Can you attach the score you are having trouble with?
In reply to What goes wrong when you try? by Marc Sabatella
The problem is with every score. The files load easily into Zerberus, and they even show up into the Mixer which I select, but when you try to playback the sound there is no sound, no sound either when pressing on the Piano Keyboard. I have more files attached showing the SF2 files an other SFZ files I have loaded.

You say "every score", but most scores don't use Sonatina. So it is only the scores you have explicitly set up to try to do so. In order to see what might have gone wrong, we would need to attach one such score, not just a picture. Try a simple score, one instrument, and one soundfont only. Try, for example, a score for solo flute only, and load only the solo flute SFZ from Sonatina.

Okay, so I tried what you listed, created a score and just used one instrument in the score. Loaded 1 SFZ along with the WAV files for French Horn and the sound is mute. The reason I say every score because there is a bunch of scores I am trying to use SSO with. I'll attach those scores as you said.

Are you remembering to also assign the sound to the instrument in the Mixer?
In reply to Are you remembering to also by Isaac Weiss
Yes, not trying to be rude in the slightest, but I have stated that several times. It seems to be doing this with real big SFZ soundfonts.

THIS is the problem I am having! I have no idea how to fix it!!! Thank god I found this thread.

How do I load an .sfz instrument to play a score?

NO NEED TO REPLY - I HAVE RESOLVED THIS ISSUE, BUT CANNOT FIND A WAY TO DELETE THIS POST
I have just installed version 2.1.0 of MuseScore. I understand that I can use .sfz format instead of soundfonts to play scores. In the Zerberus tab of Synthesizer, I have a test instrument (Woodwinds - Flute Solo.sfz, from Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra), which I placed in C:\Program Files (x86)\MuseScore 2\sound.
I can select this instrument in Mixer, but I hear no sound when I press the play button.
How do I load an .sfz instrument so that it is used to play the notes of my score and I can actually hear it?

And what is/was the solution?

The user never stated his solution. If he did, it would have saved me a lot of trouble. :/

Looking at the one you have entitled SSO_Test, it appears you actually have quite a few soundfonts loaded, and you furthermore used the "Save to Score" option on that score. So that complicates things already. If you want to just use Sonatina, better to unload the other soundfonts first. Not saying it shouldn't work to have multiple ones loaded, but it complicates the process. And don't use "Save to Score" unless you actually need all those soundfonts loaded - and be sure to use "Load from Score" every time you open the score to make sure that specific soundfont list gets reloaded.
A further complication with the score you posted is that two of the SFZ files you are using ("Snaps" and "Claps") are in the wrong folder. These are in MuseScore's own installation folder under Program Files (x86) instead of in your personal Soundfont folder. Again, this isn't in itself a problem, but it is complicating the process and making it harder to resolve the issue.
So first step, decide if you really need that full list of soundfonts to be embedded in the file. if so, great, but be sure to use "Load from Score" every time you load the score. If you *don't* need them, set up the list of soundfonts you actually do need and then use "Save to Score" again. But first, be sure to get rid of the SFZ files (and anything else you have installed yourself) under Program Files (x86) and move them instead into their proper locations in your own folders, as shown by Edit / Preferences. Normally, soundfonts should go into Documents/MuseScore2/Soundfonts.
Now, all that stated, the score contains instructions to load the sound for the "Horn in F" part from slot #2 in Zerberus. Without knowing exactly what was configured on your system when you pressed Play, I can't say for sure what that might be, but right now, all evidence is it would be trying to use the "Claps" SFZ file you installed into Program Files (x86). And probably that's not what you want. Probably there is no audio data accompanying that file.
However, there are also no actual notes in the score, so of course nothing happens you press Play. So perhaps this isn't actually the file you meant to attach?

Okay, after testing everything you've told me to do, none of that worked. However, I think I finally know what is causing the problem. The Claps and Snaps I have are SFZ files, they work just fine. If I go into these folders, you'll find the file extension .nki (claps.nki). Sonatina and Virtual playing Orchestra do contain these files, and they are the ones that don't work. Is there anywhere I can find the .nki extension for these soundfonts? I'll attach another picture to show you what I'm seeing.
As for the SSO_Test, I simply made it to test the sound on the piano keyboard, I never put any notes, I tried it after you told me to do so and it still didn't work.

Nevermind. I've found downloads for .nki files for SSO, they don't work. I've tried taking all my soundfonts out and just using SSO, it still doesn't sound.

OK, then can you try attaching such a test score so we can see?

Sorry, somehow I hadn't seen your post that you fixed the problem.
In reply to Sorry, somehow I hadn't seen by Marc Sabatella
No worries.
I see only SFZ files, where are the WAV files that go along with those?
In reply to I see only SFZ files, where by Jojo-Schmitz
The WAV files are in the folders, this is how I installed my other SFZ soundfonts.
I've finally fixed the issue! I had to reinstall Musescore and delete all my soundfonts entirely, then reload them again and works!

Can you describe step by step the process of install the sfz files?
In reply to Can you describe step by… by soundman77
Simply copy the SFA files along with the corresponding audio files into your Soundfonts folder (right next to your Scores folder, as pointed to in Edit / Preferences). To load them into MuseScore, go to View / Synthesizer, click Zerberus, Add, then select the SFZ file(s).
