New to MuseScore and New to Computer Music - Very Exciting

• Jun 27, 2017 - 19:24

Hello All -

I am using Ubuntu Studio - I had been very successful during a December 2010 break from work, and had all kinds of aps working together, I made one recording, and lost my Mojo. Various attempts to get started again failed: time constraints, computer crashes, frustration with JACK..

I started fresh again, I shipped a computer to my Nephew and bought another for myself, and, the blind leading the blind, I am determined to work thought the learning curve and harness his youthful enthusiasm!

I'm just taking a minute here to tell all of you that this piece of software has the best documentation and the most knowledgeable user base I have ever seen. I am a retired engineer, on the Linux forums often, have substantial experience learning esoteric technical subjects, and I say that this forum and the MuseScore handbook are first class. In this Forum I see care taken to answer user question accurately, enthusiastic help, occasional polite disagreement. The Handbook is extraordinarily well organized and cross referenced. I'm a person who likes to learn by diving in the middle and seeing how quickly I get over my depth... the Handbook has rescued me every time I was sinking.

No questions from me, everything seems to be pretty well laid out for easy learning.

Thanks to all!

Rob

Thank you for the kind words, there are many people hear eager to help other users as you said. All of MuseScore is a community effort and I hope to see you as a part of the community in the future. If you do find anything unclear, especially in the handbook, speak up so others can benefit from your experience.

Welcome to MuseScore!

We don't get comments like this more than a couple times a year, and it's always nothing short of a delight. As Mike said, welcome and thank you for the kind words! We'll be here to answer any questions you have in the future, and as your own expertise grows you may help out on the forums yourself—or even (if I understand you to have the skills) help make the software better.
