layered note using voices.
In a piece I am transcribing, I have come across a passage as shown in the attachment.
It is the bass line in the piece, where two notes of different values are placed side by side, or overlayed.
On playback of this section in musescore, only the semiquaver is played, with the minim being ignored, as if the semiquaver cancels out the previous note.
The semiquaver is also layed over other notes in the passage, and seems to have the same effect.
If (as I assume), this passage is played by a single instrument, why have diffent lengths for the same note in such a fashion.
Minums, Crotchets and Quavers are in voice 1
Semiquavers in voice 2.
Regards Musically Niave.

Hi
I think you are encountering this?: #12971: Same note in different voices and lengths plays only the length of the shortest note
In reply to Hi I think you are by chen lung
Yes it is, possibly the only work-a-round at the moment is to delete the short notes, doing that will not make any difference to the sound.
Thank you
My guess is it's a cello/double bass part or e.g. two bassoons and the d.b. or second player plays the lower stems when both stems are indicated.
