MuseScore 0.9.5 available for download
MuseScore 0.9.5 has been released and is available for download at http://musescore.org
The most important news is that MuseScore is now available for Mac OS X. This makes MuseScore the ideal music notation software for music schools since it's available for all major platforms and translated in 19 languages with Arabic as the most recent contribution.
But let's not forget that MuseScore 0.9.5 is packed with many new features and improvements, added over the past 7 months by the growing MuseScore user and developer community. During that time MuseScore 0.9.4 has been downloaded over 60.000 times which is around 9000 downloads per month.

I just set up Ubuntu Jaunty 64 to install 0.9.5
from here with http://ppa.launchpad.net/mscore-ubuntu/mscore-stable/ubuntu authentication key.
Update manager installed a updated version but its still 0.9.4
???????

Jaunty and Karmic are still missing. They will be posted soon. As you can see the PPA is full so it needs some time.

thanks for the confirmation.... im new to Ubuntu and the Linux way...although enjoying the learning cycle.
I assume my update manager will automatically detect the 0.9.5 version when it is available now I have it all set up ?
Or will I have to add o.9.5 again ?

Hi there,
I manage the Ubuntu and Debian packages, and you are correct in that, if you have added the PPA to your system, Update Manager should automatically detect and prompt you to install the new version when it is uploaded; you may need to manually check for updates, however. I'm currently waiting on Canonical to up the size of my PPA quota, and I hope this to be done before the day is out. Once that happens, packages should be available within a couple of hours.
Best wishes,
Toby
Packages for Ubuntu are now available for amd64, i386 and lpia on 8.04 (hardy), 8.10 (intrepid), 9.04 (jaunty), and 9.10 (karmic) in the mscore-stable PPA:

Excellent !.......
Running the stable 0.9.5 on U64
And there it is !.... the note splitting tool I suggested !!!!!
Glad you all thought it a good idea :):)
I have an immediate task for it right away :) Ohhhhhh the time this will save
Thanks !
chord chart plugin looks well useful as well !
What happens if it is used on a score containing transposing instruments ? ....
thanks Everyone.

As far as I know, chord chart plugin just create a new score with all chords recognized by musescore. It's not linked to the current score. Not sure what you were expecting? but you can write your own plugin maybe?
Sounds good.
I am just assuming for example... If I create a full brass band score of transposing instruments a chord chart created from that would be in concert and playable by a pianist or guitar.
I added the repositories and installed mscore and dependencies but got an error. MuseScore ran fine but hangs when exiting. When I try to uninstall mscore I get:

What can be wrong?

I got the same problem installing it in Kubuntu 9.04. Looks like an unresolved dependency: update-desktop-database is not installed. Fix with:
sudo apt-get install desktop-file-utils
It wouldn't play back and hung on exit the first time for me, too, but now it's fine.

I tried your sollution, now the error disappears, but MuseScore will not exit nor playback. Have an idea?
