Pedal Markings help

If I have a score with lots of inverted V's for up/down pedal notation, do they necessarily need lines in between while the pedal is depressed? I'm guessing it's acceptable, because Musescore doesn't have a feature to break up pedal lines with inverted V's, and daisy-chaining lines and pedal marks takes forever. If I need pedal lines, and adding pedal marks results in closed triangles, would that still work?
