8va not working in playback
In a piano piece, I have written two parts on the RH stave, with 8va above. In the playback the upper oart sounds up an octave, but the lower part doesn't. Is there a way of changing this?

When you have two voices (which is what I assume that you mean here) then you have to enter all the notes for both voices first and then add the 8va later. If you add the notes after placing the 8va then it misses them. One trick, however, if you add notes later is to click on the 8va, press [Ctrl]-x to delete it and then press [Ctrl]-z to reverse your delete and it applies the 8va to all the notes.

Thanks Underquark.
As I said, I was writing for piano, not voices, but I'll bear in mind what you said. I didn't know about ctrl-x and ctrl-z, but I think I'll find them useful in future.

voices here don't mean soprano, alot, etc, but notes of different lenghts at the same starting positions (some other scoring apps call them layers), so you can very well have them in a piano part as well.

I'm perfectly well aware of that. It's just that Underquark seemed to be "correcting" me despite the fact that "parts" is perfectly correct.

In MuseScore independent parts written on the same stave are called voices.

This what underquark was referring to - and in the case of Musescore no parts is not correct.

What is the matter with all you lot? My query was obviously clear to Underquark, and just because MuseScore refers to contrapuntal parts on the same stave as "voices" does not make it incorrect to use a different term. Please let's hear no more about this.

Because in MuseScore "Parts" means something entirely different:-

I don't care

I had a query which Underquark answered for me. Just because I failed to use the approved jargon is no reason why the rest of you need to get in on the act.
Have you got nothing better to do?
