Lead sheet basics?
Hi All, This is my first attempt at creating lead sheets with Musescore and am following the written basics tutorial by Marc Sabatella AND reading from the local hand book on how to create chord symbols above a particular note. It says choose a note and press Ctrl + K. But no matter how many time I've tried it, no typing field appears and eventually a popup comes saying "No note or rest selected. Please select a note or rest."
Is there a little trick of tip to creating the chord box to type in. Any suggestions?
So far, I'm enjoying this community and music potential here and am VERY grateful to have found it.

Well, that dialog means what it says - no note or rest is selected. I can only guess you are not successfully selecting a note or rest before pressing Ctrl+K. One thing that may not obvious - selecting is only possible while *not* in Note Entry mode. So if you're in Note Entry mode, click Esc to get out of it, *then* click (and don't double click - that puts you into Edit mode) a note or rest. If you have successfully selected a note, it should turn blue (or other color according to what voice it is in).

Thank you Marc, that way of accessing the chord symbol was what I was not understanding from your tutorial and the local hand book.
That made all the difference. Onward!!
