Saving/Overwriting User Text Styles

• Jan 7, 2025 - 16:59

I built out a template using all my preferred engraving choices (fonts, sizes, etc) and included a few custom choices using "User-1", "User-2" etc. Those User-1, User-2 custom styles only show up as options when I build a score from the template. If I start a score from a musescore template, those options revert back to "User-1" musescore default, etc. Is there a way to make sure my changes are always listed as the default options in Text Styles the way that "title" "chord symbol" "lyric even lines" are, no matter what kind of template the score starts with? Essentially, can I make my "User-1" custom style a default that's always available?

Additionally, if I want to change just a section of the lyrics to a different style (ie to put an english transliteration of another language in a different font), I'm finding that selecting them all, going to the inspector, clicking "show more" and changing the text style for the selection doesn't seem to override the original text style. In the example below the 'lyrics odd lines' style is set to book antiqua italicized (first image). When I go to change the style for the selected lyrics, (eg to 'title' which is saved as font 'Josefin Sans'), you'll see the italics override but the font remains 'book antiqua'. Is there a way to make sure the 'text style' dropdown always overrides the lyric odd/even lines presets? I've had success with chord symbols/alt chord symbols, but not with lyrics. Any help appreciated.
