Chord Symbols

• Jan 17, 2014 - 01:41

Been playing with it for a few hours and searching for answers as well. Hopefully someone here can tell me definitively if Musescore supports the symbols for a:

C-maj7

C minor chord with a major 7th added ... C Eb G B

thanks!

Hopefully I am overlooking something simple.

That chord is indeed supported. But as with all chord symbols, MuseScore is very picky abut how you spell it. See Chord name in the Handbook for more information on the various chord symbol styles available. If you are creating a score from scratch, you are using stdchords.xml by default, and the chord will be spelled CmMaj7. If you are using the Jazz Lead Sheet template, you are using cchords_muse.xml by default, and the chord will be spelled Cmi(ma7).

You 2.0, MuseScore will be much more flexible, and will accept and render virtually anything within reason. But for now, you have to pick the style you like best and then enter chords the right way for that style.
