Chordname question

• Feb 6, 2014 - 20:57

I am trying to decypher someone's takedown of a Big Band chart. In it he denotes some chords as Cb7 -5, C9 -5, and so on. I can't find an equivalent notation in the chord charts. Is this the same as, e.g., Cb7b5? If not, what is the correct way to enter these chordnames in the cchords_nrb style?

Thanks...

"-5" is indeed a synonym for "b5", at least that's how most of the people who use that notation mean it. I've on rare occasions seen it used to note "omit 5".

Correspondingly, "+9" usually means "#9", but a very small number of people might use it to mean "add 9".
