Solo instrument help!

I am wanting to create a solo over the top of a piece, but only over certain measures (for example, like measures 15-25) but the only way I see of doing that is by creating a separate instrument part for the solo and having that line blank for the entire song except those measures. If anyone has a better way of doing this, I would love to know it. Thanks!
