I simply dont understand this program.. Sometimes it works and other times it doesnt.. Im trying to make the triangle symbol for a major 7 chord. I know how to do it because I just did it in a tune. However a few measures later when i try it it wont take. i type m7, M7, maj7, MAJ7, major7 MAJOR7 and i cant get it.. any advise?

See Chord name in the Handbook. If you want triangle for major, you first need to select the cchords_sym chord description file, as shown in the examples on that page. Then type "ma" to get the triangle. It's perfectly consistent; it's just a matter of following the steps correctly.

Also, you may want to try the create chord chart plugin:
plugins -> lead sheet -> create chord chart.
This will create a chord chart with all the currently possible chords with the current font.
If you double click, you can see how you should write each chord, e.g. Ma7 or maj7.
As mentioned, the cchords_sym chord file provides triangles.
