Clarinet sound EXTREMELY loud naturally

Is it just me, or is the clarinet part completely overpowering the rest of the ensemble sounds? Also, the sound seems really, really blatty and uncontrolled. All of the powers are set at a similar dynamic, so I have no idea what's going on...

Note: this is just a section of a larger work of mine. I just didn't want to post thing up here, so only kept the first 9 measures.
