Which came first Egg (score) or Chicken (lyrics)
First an apology to all you professional composers, lyricists and musicians out there. But I have been dreaming and thinking of other ways to compose music. Their are millions of us out there. Poets, lyricists and musicians who carry songs in our hearts every day. Yet many of us who carry those songs in our hearts have no idea how write a simple piano or guitar score for the song. For those of us lucky enough, we can find a composer or musician who can help us make this happen. For others these songs will only live and die in our hearts and minds never to be shared with others, except in the written word.
With MuseScore today you have to write a score before you can add lyrics. The question is could you write the lyrics in text form with certain added notations. Then select a desired Rhythm style. Could MuseScore be programmed based on music theory and circle of chord theory to produce a simple score in the key of C that would match properly annotated lyrics? Obviously the score would be potentially rudimentary and full of holes but it would be there in MuseScore to be edited. A function could then be added to walk through the score note by note allowing editing of keys as needed using GUI or keyboard entry.
I am a very novice musician but an experienced engineer, programmer and poet. I truly think something like this could be possible. Think of all the new music that poets and lyricists could add to the world.
OK?? WHAT DO YOU THINK?

A surprising question, obvious answer.
MuseScore is not a creative tool but editing. Its purpose? paper partition to allow musicians to play music as written by the composer, the music is pre-existing. As for the words, they are only present if the music is a song in which case they can not be placed correctly if the partition (notes) are not yet written.
MuseScore can also be a tool of creation is undoubtedly an interesting thing but I think there are functions and most important updates to finalize or implement before the point.
That said, if you take this to heart you can join the team développeurs.Toutes contributions are accepted.

Musescore not a creative tool?
I use it all the time for composing and arranging!
It is not yet as intuitive as pencil and paper, but being able to enter chords by using alt and shift keys + the interval number is pretty good.
The only niggle is an easier way to switch voices.
...does possess a *rhythm of words*: e.g., iambic pentameter.

to read about one approach for *composing* with MuseScore.

While it is true that MuseScore is primarily a notation editor, its capabilities and limitations are always being explored and expanded by all involved.
