(Regression) Adding an instrument adds twice its mixer channels
Using current 2.2-dev 072c135
- Create a new score. (You can use a template or chose instruments).
- Add instruments (either from the wizard or add them to a score created with a template)
- Open mixer
Result - Two mixer channels are assigned to each added instrument for each channel needed. Adding a string (i.e. viola) will add 6 channels rather than 3.
Expectation - One mixer channel should be assigned to each instrument for each channel needed
Note: I opened the score in version 2.1 and the extra channels were still there. This only happens if you add an instrument either through the new score wizard or the Instruments dialog. Templates (that I tested) add instruments as expected.

And just to get this straight: this does not happen in 2.1, so is a regression?

Correct. I opened it in 2.1 to assure the channels were actually created and not just improperly displayed in 2.2-dev.
Not confirmed.
I'm using the same version. 072c135

Which (exact) steps do we need to follow in order for this bug to happen?
Just tested over here as well after downloading that specific nightly (Win7 as well); also couldn't reproduce.
@mike320: can you still reproduce this after performing a reset to defaults?
My guess it will turn out to be an issue with instruments.xml, like maybe you have a custom one set up. Reinstall to make sure your copy isn't corrupted, then revert to factory settings to make sure MuseScore uses only the default.
It was fixed when I reset to factory settings. I had another Instruments.xml loaded.
