Need more info...
What OS? What version of MuseScore? What kind of midi controller? Usb connected, or midi in/out? Outdated drivers? Does note written onto the staff lag, or just the sound? How large is the score? What soundfont? Any other (e.g. DAW) software running?

Thx. Here's a rundown of my system. MuseScore 2.0 and a USB connected E-MU X-Board25 midi controller. I just tested a test file (one piano staff), and tried to play a piece ("Mama Mia", ABBA) in real time. Had to stop. The latency threw me off.
