Musescore format and Finale format (making the connection) Score layout
I recently was blessed to meet a Hal Leonard engraver who engraved this piece, he did it in Finale and gave me a pdf and Finale file. I downloaded Finale (30 day trial) and can't make sense of the format which they use to create the layout. I want to replicate the finale score as close as possible. I tried to convert all the number from inches to mm and they don't respond to anything that I have in the score thus far. Any help would be appreciative of how I can take these Finale format numbers and take them into Musescore.

The Musescore page format was my original, and the Finale page format numbers is what I am trying to translate over the Musescore.
Could you ask your friend to give you a xml file? This format ms reads well.
Best regards,
Hadley :)

For some reason, Musescore cannot open the XML file.
can you add the pdf document here?

It is not the same, but it is very similar.
Musescore does not have first page features, so the first page is different in Finale.
Also, font differences, note symbols, and other settings that do not appear. etc.
If it works, save a style file from this document. (Style Menu -> "Save Style")

Thanks Ziya Mete Demircan, I gleaned some great details from this. I spent the day studying the engraving and was able to get some solid numbers for margins, font size, etc, which I will use in my future choral scores as reference.

Layout numbers is very simple:
(if the default unit is mm, change the unit to inch)
Hard part is here: Style->General->Page:
(units in "sp")
I would be willing to share the Finale file with anybody who wants to nerd out on the engraving, stats, and numbers.

Finale upgraded their xml to 3.1. MS has problems importing this xml.

MuseScore is almost there too, see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/3254
However, MuseScore should be able to import it already, you may have to rename the file to .xml and ignore the warning MuseScore may emit.

Nice, that worked.
