Drumine Notation and Sound Issues
Hello everyone! I have come across a couple of problems while using the marching percussion instruments in Musescore 2. Here at the few that I have found. Most of which have to do with the tenor drums.
1. When notating drum 4 for tenors, the sound is not created when you use the playback feature.
2. For tenors, drum 3 sounds like a drum 4, drum 2 sounds like drum 1, and the drum 1 sound has no differentiation between itself and the spock drum sound. There are only 3 separate drum sounds. Last time I checked, Tenors usually have 4 drums with 1 or two spock drums.
3. The rim shots for tenors. Rim shots sound like rim clicks, not rim shots. This is a very difficult issue for me because I cannot hear the sound of the specific rim shot on tenors that I want to hear. I need to hear what I am writing for me to be completely sure of the part that I am composing.
4. There is no notation for a crossover for tenor drums.
5. There is no notation for rolls on any percussion instrument. Rolls are extremely common in the percussion society. You need rolls. Not just for drums, but for marimba and other keyboards as well.
6. There is no diddle notation for any drum. This causes inefficiency when trying to create fast passages. I find myself having to notate the exact note value then writing in every. single. sticking....
7. Percussion composition should just be easier. I applaud the effort that has already been put into this application. It is very easy to use and can be learned fairly swiftly. However, I feel that there has been some neglect towards the percussion side.
Below is attached a new marching indoor percussion show that I am writing. Some of the issues I have addressed can be seen below. For example, the marimba in the opening statement with tied dotted half notes is meant to be a sustained roll. Adding a trill is not what I want. Also towards the end of the excerpt there is a drum feature. Look how I have to notate the exact not values rather than the actual diddles. Annoying.... Also notice how certain drums in the tenors sound the same and some do not even have a sound.
In conclusion, I would appreciate with any of these issues if you are aware of how to fix any of them. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

For rolls use tremolo.
Not ideal, but similar.

See I would but the music I write is eventually printed out. It saves me a bunch of time from having to explain why there is a tremolo marking over intended roll.

Select the tremolo and press v to make it invisible. You can also select all of them on the same staff by right clicking one and choosing select>all similar items in same staff then press V to make them all invisible at once.

My way of doing rolls is using a soundfont and drm that has a roll voice and I put that on the stave, and then write "roll" above the staff. It works for me, but if it doesn't work for percussionists I would like to know.
The basic issue with the tenor drums is known, BTW - see #196321: Tenor Drum playback not functioning correctly. But do keep i mind, the primary purpose of MuseScore is notation, not playback, and there will likely always be some things that will not play back.
Regarding the notation requests, it would help if you explained which specific notation for rolls, crossover, or diddles you would like to see. Keep in mind there are literally thousands of symbols on the Symbols palette (press "Z" to display), so it is possible they are already present and you just haven't found them yet. Also you can attach text anywhere you like, so if you have a font that includes some special-purpose symbols not in the international standard Bravura font we use, you can insert that way.
Musescore has addressed the problems with the tenor drums. In the musescore handbook ( https://musescore.org/en/handbook/drum-notation ) it has a drm file for tenor drums that should work fine. Download and use this drm file and then report.
