I purchased a MacBook last week and then made a download of Musescore. So everything should be up to date.

Ah, so MacOS (probably the lates version) and MuseScore 2.1...
So see #234811: No sound on Mac and Windows, I/O's PortAudio API drop down menu empty and maybe #198086: [Mac] No sound via Bluetooth or Airplay
