Percussion Soundfont
I have a song that I would like to use a whistle and a metal plate, along with chains and an anvil. None of these sounds are ones that I would like to use. Is it possible for me to create these sounds, then upload to the score, or do I need to just work around the playback issue?

I'm not quite sure I understand the issue - you want to use a whistle et al, but you don't want to use the sounds? You mean, you don't like the specific sounds for these instruments in the default soundfont? Feel free to try a different soundfont then - see the Handbook under "Soundfonts" to learn how.

My issue is that the sound for a certain instrument is not good. I have access to that sound in an MP3 form. Is it possible for me to take that MP3 and replace that sound through the program without creating a brand new soundfont?

MuseScore uses soundfonts, so that's what you'll need if you desire different sounds from those provided in the default.
