Switching languages does not update instrument search
When changing languages via Preferences, the translations do not persist to the instrument search widget.
To reproduce this, change the language from Preferences, hit Ok. Then type the "I" shortcut to bring up the instruments window. The search instruments dialog remains in the old language, while the rest of the program is in the new language.
It takes a restart of the program for the language change to affect the instrument search.
Comments
I occasionally use the change language feature and notice that several items require a restart for all of the changes to take effect. There is a message telling you (when changing from system language at least) that you must restart to see the language change. I suspect this means it is by design, either due to a limitation of QT or a feature the developers have decided is more trouble than necessary to fix. There are several contributors (of code) that I know switch between languages and they probably would have fixed it by now if it were an easy fix.
For 2.x this is by design, the ability to change languages on the fly had been added to master only. Backporting that to 2.x was considered too complicated.
But feel free to try.
By design in 2.2 indeed. It's too late to even try in 2.2. Let's concentrate on high impact bugs: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/musescore-22-hit-list
There is a bug, or at least a mis-feature, in master: loading updated translations doesn't take effect without restarting MuseScore
Guess that needs a separate issue... now in #269740: Loading updated translations needs restarting MuseScore to take effect
