EXTENDING VOLTAS FROM ONE LINE TO THE NEXT
I am working on a score with a first and second ending. How do you extend a first-ending volta from one line to another? I've tried all kinds of formatting and spacing options to avoid the problem entirely, but the format I have works well for other reasons. However, there is still the problem with the first-ending volta.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking for. It could be:
Extend the volta beyond a line break for the same instrument. Select the volta and press shift+right arrow to extend the volta. You could have selected the first measure then shift + click the last measure then double click the volta in the palette to make the volta extend from the first to last measure without needing to adjust it.
Make the volta visible on multiple instruments. When you create the parts the volta will appear on each part. If you really want the volta visible on each instrument in the score then simply insert one on it the other instruments.
