Can You Change between TAB and Standard Clef For SELECT Measures?

I'd like the guitar part in my score to have TAB for the first 8 measures but then SWITCH to standard clef after the 8 measures. Can this be done? I've tried highlighting the TAB clef in my score and then selecting a standard clef from the left hand panel but nothing happens. This leads me to believe it isn't possible to do. I know I can have both standard clef AND TAB shown for the guitar part but this is no good as I'm trying to use LESS space. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!!

Definitely "Hide empty staves" as mentioned above. Create both staves, put notes where you want, then turn on that option and all but the staves actually used will disappear, leaving you with exactly what you want. Only restriction is that you won't be able to change in the middle of a single system without showing both staves for that system.
